This test measures seven proportions of your face and compares each with its ideal. Five are compared with the golden ratio, 1.618. Two are compared with 1.0, because the ideal there is equal parts. Every distance comes from 478 landmarks detected in your browser, so the same photo always gives the same numbers.

What does my golden ratio score mean?
Each proportion scores 100 when it matches its ideal exactly. One that is 10% away scores about 84, 20% away about 70 and 30% away about 58. Your overall score is the plain average of all seven.

Why does my golden ratio score change between photos?
Your face does not change between two photos taken a minute apart, but the measurement can. Three things move it most.
A turned head. Turning makes your face look narrower while its height barely changes, and five of the seven proportions include a width. On our facial symmetry test, the same face measured 0.4% deviation square-on and 28.5% turned.
A phone held close. A camera close to your face enlarges whatever is nearest the lens, so your nose looks wider against your mouth and face. Arm's length fixes most of it.
Expression. A smile widens your mouth and moves the centre of your lips, which shifts at least two of the seven proportions. Tilting your head to one side matters far less, because the distance between two points stays the same when the whole face rotates.

What is the golden ratio for a perfect face?
The idea is that key facial measurements relate to each other by about 1.618. This test checks seven proportions. Five are compared with 1.618: face length to width, mouth width to nose width, face width to the span of your outer eye corners, nose-to-chin against mouth-to-chin, and nose-to-chin against nose width. The other two are compared with 1.0, because the ideal there is equal parts: your three facial thirds, and the gap between your eyes against the width of one eye. What is 1.618 in beauty?
1.618 is the golden ratio, often written as the Greek letter phi. Cut a line into two parts so that the whole length divided by the longer part equals the longer part divided by the shorter part, and that ratio comes out at about 1.618. It also shows up in the Fibonacci sequence, where each number divided by the one before it gets closer to 1.618: 13/8 is 1.625 and 21/13 is 1.615. In beauty, it became shorthand for the belief that a well-proportioned face follows the same ratio.
Is the golden ratio really what makes a face attractive?
Less than the internet suggests. The number is mathematically special, but research has not shown that faces closer to 1.618 are reliably rated as more attractive. A 2010 study in the journal Vision Research found people preferred faces where the distance between the pupils was about 46% of face width and the distance from eyes to mouth was about 36% of face length, and neither figure is 1.618. Our PSL rating uses that 46% figure for eye spacing. Treat this score as a map of your proportions, not a verdict on your looks.
Is 1.4 a good face ratio?
If you mean face length to width: 1.618 scores 100 on that ratio here, 1.4 scores about 78 and 1.3 scores about 70. Two things to know. It is one of seven ratios, so it makes up a seventh of your overall score. And the number depends on where face length starts. We measure from the upper forehead, not your hairline, so a 1.4 from another site is not the same measurement as a 1.4 here.
What is the 1:3 face rule?
It is the rule of facial thirds: the face divided into three horizontal sections of equal height. We measure from your upper forehead to the bridge of your nose, from there to the base of your nose, and from the base of your nose to your chin, then divide the longest section by the shortest. A result of 1.0 means all three are equal. The top section starts on the forehead rather than at the hairline because hairlines vary so much and hair often covers them.
Which celebrity has a golden ratio face?
You will find published rankings, usually produced by cosmetic surgeons measuring press photos with their own method. Those numbers cannot be compared with each other or with this test: each uses different points, different formulas and professionally lit, often retouched photos. We don't score celebrity photos. A plain front photo of your own face is the only score that tells you anything about you.
Can ChatGPT measure the golden ratio of my face?

Where face length starts, at the hairline or on the forehead, changes the best-known ratio on its own. Two sites can give the same face very different numbers without either being broken.
Can I improve my golden ratio score?
Your proportions come mostly from bone structure, which does not change without surgery. What does change is the photo. Smiling widens your mouth, a phone held close makes your nose look larger, and a turned head narrows everything. A straight, neutral photo from arm's length gives the most accurate score, which is not always the highest one.
What would I look like with a golden ratio face?
We don't generate that image. A morph that pushes your features toward a template shows a different face, not a measurement of yours. Your results already show which proportions sit closest to their ideal and which sit furthest, and that is the part worth knowing.
